The production begins with a sinister pre-show, where fragments of the ancient chant Dies Irae echo through the air, setting a chilling tone and inviting the audience into the shadows. The first full movement, DIES IRAE, draws from Mozart’s setting of the text, erupting with high energy, bold ensemble scoring, and powerful rhythmic intensity as the vampires awaken and stalk the night. The mood transforms in HELLO, a somber and eerie lyrical movement that highlights expressive phrasing and showcases the ensemble’s musicality while revealing a more introspective side of the creatures of the night. The show concludes with LACRIMOSA, a dramatic finale that blends elements of Mozart’s Lacrimosa with the returning Dies Irae motif, building toward a thrilling and unforgettable finish.
