Symphony 1 A Ghost Story, Movement 1, Unquiet
Symphony 1 A Ghost Story, Movement 1, Unquiet - Randall Standridge
Through four movements, this symphony demonstrates the composer's writing prowess at its peak. It tells the story of a composer's ghost and their widow. A meditation on death, love, grief, memory, and hope, this symphony for wind band is effective in its entirety or through its individual movements. Movement 1, Unquiet, starts on a dark and stormy night. A piano begins to play by itself. The ghost makes its presence known as all the themes that are used throughout the symphony are introduced in a bold and shocking statement before giving way to a symphonic gesture that showcases all of the colors of the wind ensemble.
