About E. Benton Lilliefors

Erin Lilliefors is a Music Educator originally from Muskegon, Michigan, and lives and works in Ann Arbor, Michigan and is in her 14th year of teaching. She graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 2009 with her Bachelor’s in Music Education- Instrumental, and again from Eastern in 2022 with her Master’s in Music Education.

In the fall of 2020, Lilliefors was hired as the Associate Director of Bands at Pioneer High School in Ann Arbor Public schools, where she works presently. In this position, she teaches Music Technology, Varsity Band, Concert Band White, and Co-Directs Concert Band Purple and Symphony Band. The Symphony Band was featured at the Michigan Music Educators Conference in 2022, featuring the premiere of Lilliefors’ work “A Song for Charlotte.” At the 2024 MMC, Lilliefors’ piece “Release the Kraken” was performed by the Clague Middle School band as the 2024 MMC. Additionally, Lilliefors presented in 2024 at the Michigan Music Educators Conference about developing a comprehensive music technology curriculum. Lilliefors created her curriculum in 2020 and has continued to add and develop it over the last few years.

Lilliefors works as a composer as well. She began composing for band and is published with Randall Standridge Music & Leading Tones Music, LLC. During her summers Lilliefors spends time as a conductor at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, where she conducts the Vander Linde Band and occasionally teaches a conducting minor., Lilliefors has spent time as the Begian Scholar from 2023-24. She is a single mom to her daughter, Charlotte.
