COMPOSER RESIDENCY CLINIC

-Randall Standridge (me) will come to your campus(es) for a week residency, teach classes, and brainstorm/create a new composition (3 to 6 minutes in length, Grade 2-5) during the week with and for you and your students.  There will be daily reading sessions on portions of the composition on Day 2-4, with the final composition and premiere on Day 5.  Mr. Standridge must be allowed a minimum of 2 periods per day to brainstorm and work.

-Mr. Standridge will do a Skype session with the organization(s) during the week prior to the residency to give a brief lecture about composition to help prep students for the brainstorming session on Day 1.  For Grade 4 and 5 music, an additional Skype session will be done during the prior week to help begin the brainstorming process as these pieces will require more planning.

-While the composition will result from a collaboration with students and directors, all final artistic decisions will be made by Mr. Standridge.  All copyright and mechanical rights will belong to Mr. Standridge.  The participating organizations will have non-transferable performance rights for the composition in perpetuity.

-One on One composition lessons with students and/or staff during the week, as schedules allow.

-One on one discussions with directors about music education/composition/marching band design/etc... as time allows.

-Some sessions may be filmed and a short documentary will be created either in the form of a film or in the form of online video blogs.

-The resulting commission will be published with the participating organizations names on the score and parts, and all directors, admin, and students names in the program notes.

The cost of the project will include clinic fees (by quote), the cost of the commission, travel, and lodging.  This project may be done as a cooperative consortium between organizations to mitigate costs, if the organization(s) desire.
